used car review Nissan Titan Pickup Truck

After suffering a few teething pains during its freshman year on the market, the Nissan Titan rolls into 2005 with greater attention to quality and a handful of modifications. All Titans receive front seat active head restraints and a dampened tailgate assist that makes it easier to access and secure the cargo bed.

Crew Cab models have a slick new power rear window, dark tinted for privacy when its closed and helpful for carrying longer items when its open. Texans can choose the new Texas Edition Titan this year, which includes chrome 18-inch wheels, chrome side step rails, fog lights, a factory-installed spray-on bedliner, special dashboard accent trim, floor mats emblazoned with the Texas Star, and a Texas Titan exterior badge.

The 2005 Nissan Truck Titan King Cab is a 4-door, up to 6-passenger full size pickup, available in 6 trims, ranging from the XE 4X2 to the LE 4X4. The XE 4X2 is equipped with a standard 5.6-liter, V8, 305-horsepower engine that achieves 14-mpg in the city and 19-mpg on the highway. The LE 4X4 is equipped with a standard 5.6-liter, V8, 305-horsepower engine that achieves an estimated 14-mpg in the city and 18-mpg on the highway. A 5-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard on both trims.

King Cab doors open 168 degrees to provide excellent access to the cab.

The Titan offered the industrys first factory-applied spray-in bedliner.
A Utili-track™ tie-down system aids cargo hauling.

An integrated, lockable bedside storage compartment provides extra storage.
The Crew Cab body style offers best-in-class interior room.

Titan trucks are equipped with a 5.6-liter DOHC V8 engine that produces 305 hp and a best-in-class 379 lb-ft torque. A 5-speed automatic transmission is standard, and the truck can tow up to 9,500 pounds when properly equipped.

Auto-trex Advice:
As Americans increasingly use full-size trucks for family fun, weekend DIY projects and daily commutes, a need for a pickup designed to cater to personal-use buyers is emerging. But legitimacy on the full-size truck battlefield is dependent upon an entrants ability to tow and haul with the best of the breed. If you dont have full-size interior and cargo dimensions coupled with a torquey V8 engine that can tow nearly 10,000 pounds, forget about intruding upon this domestically ruled turf. Until now, only Toyota has dared to challenge Chevrolet, Dodge, Ford and GMC half-ton trucks, and with marginal success.

The Nissan Titan, however, re-writes the rules and makes life very difficult for the stalwarts in the class. With low sticker prices, standard V8 engines, comfortable cabins, and a full complement of luxury features such as a rear seat DVD entertainment system and a DVD-driven navigation system, the Titan offers a compelling alternative to traditional full-size truck choices. Add in the fact that the Nissan Titan offers refined interior design, muscular styling, impressive towing capacity, unique features, and innovative storage solutions, and it becomes clear that for light-duty use, the 2005 Nissan Titan is the truck to beat.
